The Instafire Xtreme by Guard Dog Security is pretty handy! (pun intended) This little sleeve has a pocket for a small pepper spray canister (included) and knuckle reinforcement for close range impact. It keeps your fingers free while the pepper spray stays at the ready.

If pink doesn’t do it for you, it comes in black, too.   $24.95

"Head on a swivel!"

"Head on a swivel!" Ladies, y'all know what I'm talking about—those of us who take our personal protection into our own hands are already ahead of the curve because we know not to bury our heads in our phones as we walk, and we scan our surroundings everywhere we go. Many of us carry guns concealed (and some even open carry). But what do you do if you're going somewhere where guns are prohibited?

Some ladies carry impact objects. Some carry flashlights. Some carry OC spray. What if it was possible to carry all of these, in one device? I was perusing the New Products section at SHOT Show, when behind the glass something caught my eye. It was small, it was blingy (but not too blingy!), and it looked pretty cool. Because it was behind the glass, I couldn't decipher what all it actually did. So, I scanned it with my trusty scanner-gun and through the magic of modern technology, its description appeared in my inbox immediately.

The Tigerlight D.A.D. (Defense Alert Device) seems to have everything one would need in lieu of a firearm: flashlight, pepper spray, bluetooth alert system, and I'm going to add one more:  "impact device"—because while it isn't technically billed as one, I'd bet if you hit someone in the eye sockets with it, it would hurt pretty bad (and it's made of polycarbonate, which is almost indestructible).

The flashlight is 250 lumens and has five modes: Panic, High, Low, Strobe and SOS modes. I don't know what an SOS mode is, but a strobe is usually a good thing to potentially disorient an attacker. The OC feature claims to be "military-strength pepper spray" (but doesn't give the percentage) with an "optimized spray pattern." Another thing the D.A.D. has is a bluetooth-enabled app, which sends alerts to whichever contacts you specify in the app, even if they don't have the app (which, in my opinion is great, so you don't have to nag your friends and loved ones to download an app), as well as to everyone within a mile radius who DOES have the app. Finally, the ergonomic design and hand strap helps ensure the D.A.D. isn't dropped in a moment of panic.

The Tigerlight D.A.D. retails for $129.99. tigerlight.net

Yah, I know, the 5.11 Tactical Raven Range pant has been all over the internet. Personally, I have made it a mission in life to educate the world that leggings are not actual pants, and have been known to give my friends a hard time about wearing legging as pants. That being said, I think these can pass one of the hard and fast rules . . . No one should be able to see your butt crack through them!

This pant is made out of durable stretch knit, feature a wide elastic waistband, belt loops, and abrasion-resistant panels for your belt and holster.  I can't lie, I want to try them. I mean, who doesn't want to wear stretchy pants on the range?
