Femme Fatale Garter Holster Review
Looking for a sexy holster? Femme Fatale has some great options. I found myself frustrated by trying to conceal my pistol while wearing skirts and dresses, and chose to check out Femme Fatale’s Garter Holster. I wore this holster every chance I got over a few weeks in different environments to see how if performed at church, restaurants, Sure Shots practice, and the park. WARNING: this holster will make you feel sexy!
Straight out of the package, the beauty of the lace surprised me. I chose the Risqué color; tan with a black lace overlay. It truly looks like a piece of fine lingerie, and I found myself coordinating my other garments with it! The elastic band stretches well and holds it’s position well once on the thigh. The silicone grippers on the top and bottom of the elastic do a great job of keeping the holster from sliding down. I spend a lot of time chasing after a toddler, bending, reaching, squatting, and lifting; and the holster didn’t start to slide until the 6th time I wore it. I hand washed it in lingerie detergent, and let it air dry - the elastic properties bounced right back.
I expected the location of the holster to be somewhat obvious because of squeeze of the elastic, but was pleasantly surprised to see that the elastic hugged my thigh well and didn’t have a “muffin top” effect or roll down after hours of wear. I wore skirts and dresses above my knee, and found that the holster concealed nicely when standing. Once I sat, I had to be careful to make sure it wasn’t too visible. There is a bit of a learning curve to figure out where the holster will sit comfortably on the thigh. Luckily, the fit easy to customize since it’s easy to move up and down, or to turn the pocket to accommodate different body types and preferences.
Despite the recommendation of the manufacturer to conceal a pistol high on the inside of the thigh, I found it more comfortable to turn the pocket around to the outside of my thigh. Obviously, this won’t work for tighter, form-fitting skirts and dresses. I used the holster both ways, and prefer my pistol on the outside for comfort and quick access. I conceal an M&P Shield, and while most of the slide was inside the pocket, the rear sights and grip were outside the pocket. This wasn’t really an issue, but smaller pistol would conceal even better!
This holster is both functional and fabulous – well sewn, sturdy, and sexy! The Garter Holster by Femme Fatale is a wonderfully feminine specialty holster for any occasion that calls for a skirt or dress. Priced at $70, it's definitely worth it—in fact, you’ll find yourself looking for excuses to wear it!
