Crosstac Ambi Sling BOLD Review

Picture
A few weeks ago, I had signed up for a Defensive Carbine course from one of my favorite training companies. Knowing that it was going to be a long day on the range, carrying around a not-so-light AR-15, I wanted to make sure to have a comfortable sling to help lessen the load. This gave me the first opportunity to try out my new Crosstac Ambi Sling in the bold neon pink. (Of course, the bold colors are a must. We gotta look good on the range!)

The Crosstac Ambi Sling can be worn as both a single-point and as a two-point sling. I personally prefer to wear it as a single-point sling. This allows me to use the quick release clip to take off my rifle and leave the sling on my body. The 2-point set up is just as comfortable to wear, giving you easy access to the quick release clip when you want to take off both the rifle and the sling. The extra 6 inch stretch that the bungee section gives allows you to switch easily from strong to weak side shooting, or to just give you a little more comfort in some unusual shooting positions.

Also, the webbing used in the Crosstac slings are super soft. I've seen more than enough webbing with the sharp edges that make any kind of extended wear absolutely uncomfortable (including other slings and gun belts purchased and never worn again!). I was able to wear this sling for the entire day with no rubbing, discomfort or pinching. The softness of the webbing allowed the sling to conform to my body. It rode easily across my shoulder and back and essentially disappeared for the day.

The price on the Crosstac Ambi Sling is $39.95. It's the best, and least expensive, investment that I've made for my rifle accessories. No doubt, I'll be purchasing a few more of these slings in the other BOLD colors available. I highly recommend that you pick up one of these slings for your next range day!

Well Armed Woman Magnetic Waistband Leather Holster Review

Picture
The RIFLES ONLY training facility, in the Wild Horse Desert area of South Texas
I purchased this holster from approximately four months ago, and love it even more today as when I first opened the package.

I am not much for wearing belts, and this holster snaps tightly over the waist band of my jeans/pants/skirts for a body-hugging fit. This is ideal for women as it lays very close to the hip without bulging.  I have worn it with jeans and my Sure Shots tee shirt and it did not print. No one at work noticed I was carrying.  With the hot summers here in Texas, this holster would work well with shorts or lightweight slacks.

I don’t worry about it coming loose or shifting, as the Powerful Rare Earth, Neodymium magnet is so strong that I have to pull hard to open the holster. The weight of the firearm and holster is negligible for me; I carry my Sig P238.

The holster is made of genuine high grade cowhide leather with a soft suede lining to protect your handgun. It can be either kept as is, or it can be molded to fit your firearm (instructions for molding it to fit your firearm are on the Well Armed Woman site). Another big plus is that it is made in the USA and has a life-time warranty.

This holster is not just limited to wearing it IWB!  The magnet makes it possible to attach the holster to your bed frame at night, a filing cabinet at work, anything metal, the possibilities are endless.

The cost of this holster is $50.99 and well worth the price!

Femme Fatale Garter Holster Review

Picture
Looking for a sexy holster? Femme Fatale has some great options. I found myself frustrated by trying to conceal my pistol while wearing skirts and dresses, and chose to check out Femme Fatale’s Garter Holster. I wore this holster every chance I got over a few weeks in different environments to see how if performed at church, restaurants, Sure Shots practice, and the park. WARNING: this holster will make you feel sexy!

Straight out of the package, the beauty of the lace surprised me. I chose the Risqué color; tan with a black lace overlay. It truly looks like a piece of fine lingerie, and I found myself coordinating my other garments with it! The elastic band stretches well and holds it’s position well once on the thigh. The silicone grippers on the top and bottom of the elastic do a great job of keeping the holster from sliding down. I spend a lot of time chasing after a toddler, bending, reaching, squatting, and lifting; and the holster didn’t start to slide until the 6th time I wore it. I hand washed it in lingerie detergent, and let it air dry - the elastic properties bounced right back.

I expected the location of the holster to be somewhat obvious because of squeeze of the elastic, but was pleasantly surprised to see that the elastic hugged my thigh well and didn’t have a “muffin top” effect or roll down after hours of wear. I wore skirts and dresses above my knee, and found that the holster concealed nicely when standing. Once I sat, I had to be careful to make sure it wasn’t too visible. There is a bit of a learning curve to figure out where the holster will sit comfortably on the thigh. Luckily, the fit easy to customize since it’s easy to move up and down, or to turn the pocket to accommodate different body types and preferences.

Despite the recommendation of the manufacturer to conceal a pistol high on the inside of the thigh, I found it more comfortable to turn the pocket around to the outside of my thigh. Obviously, this won’t work for tighter, form-fitting skirts and dresses. I used the holster both ways, and prefer my pistol on the outside for comfort and quick access. I conceal an M&P Shield, and while most of the slide was inside the pocket, the rear sights and grip were outside the pocket. This wasn’t really an issue, but smaller pistol would conceal even better!

This holster is both functional and fabulous – well sewn, sturdy, and sexy! The Garter Holster by Femme Fatale is a wonderfully feminine specialty holster for any occasion that calls for a skirt or dress. Priced at $70, it's definitely worth it—in fact, you’ll find yourself looking for excuses to wear it!
